Whether at the show ring or behind the scenes, Edgewood has a dedicated team of talented professionals that care for the rider and horse.

Show Team

Bob Walker

Bob Walker started riding at age 12 and has never looked back. He was on a riding drill team in high school and began to train horses and riders in his twenties. He owned and operated his own training barn until he sold it in 1992 when he was invited to become the private trainer to the Herman family. In that role his standing as a superior trainer of horse and rider was proven again as he brought Montserrat and Ashley Herman, to win all three Indoors small junior hunters championships in the same year (Pennsylvania, Washington D.C. and New York’s Madison Square Garden).

After Ashley graduated from high school, Bob became the personal trainer of the Hersh-Boyle girls, Rebecca, Gav and Sarah-Maeve, and of the horses they began to acquire at Edgewood. Bob has the unique talent which sets him apart from many other trainers in that he is equally at home with, and adept at, training a green horse and a learning rider. Under his tutelage, Rebecca’s Irish Sport Horse became a successful large junior and AO hunter and went to Indoors 4 times, Sarah-Maeve won many Equitation and Hunter classes and finished her junior years by accomplishing her dreams of winning first place, twice, at Indoors, as well as several junior championships, and Gav was team captain of the Young Riders team, having accumulated the most points in the trials, when she competed in Chicago.

In recognition of his accomplishments, in 2004 Bob was voted CPHA ‘s (California Professional Horseman’s Association) Horseman of the Year by his peers — one of the most prestigious honors bestowed on true horsemen.

But Bob would tell you that the most important of all his accomplishments is his family. Bob has been married to Jan for 33 years and he is very proud of their 2 children, Jenna and Jordan and two grandchildren, Lyla and Sadie.

Edgewood is honored to have Bob as the head of our competitive training program, a position he has held for the past 9 years.

Erin Stewart

Erin Stewart is a second-generation rider who has grown up in the hunter/jumper world. Daughter of east coast trainer Don Stewart Jr., Erin started her tri-color collection in 1989 with a win in the lead line class at the Devon Horse Show. She was very successful in her junior years winning everything from the 2002 Maclay Medal Finals and best child rider at all the of the National Indoor Finals to team gold at Prix de States. Erin spent six years showing as an amateur in the jumpers and hunters. She brought many of her father's sale horses through the ranks to success at the top shows in the A/O hunters and jumpers. She recently started showing in Grand Prix classes with her horse, Devito.

Throughout her years as a junior and amateur, Erin trained with many top professionals such as her father, Bibby Farmer-Hill, Bill Cooney, Michelle Grubb, Mark Leone, Leslie Burr-Howard, McLain Ward, Karen Healey and Emil Spadone. Erin decided to turn professional in 2010 and join the Edgewood team to share her knowledge and experience from her junior and amateur years as a trainer at Edgewood.
